HOW TO HUDDLE

Huddles are an outgrowth of our mission, which is to bring the extraordinary life of Jesus to a lost & broken world. We believe living out our values of—lived-out love, gritty grace, raw & real, and transformation—are the basis for our ability to “learn to love and follow Jesus, together, by His strength, in everyday life.” That is Foundations’ definition of a disciple of Christ. If you’d like to learn more about these core values, click here to find out about our Pathyway workshop.

One truly important word in our definition of a disciple is the word “together.” We believe gathering together throughout the week is significant in following Jesus because it reinforces the rhythms we engage to love God and love our neighbors. To learn more about these rhythms, click here to find out about our Rhythms workshop.

Huddles provide a structure to come together to talk about the work of God in our lives. One hour, once per week, we simply encourage each other to grow in our relationship to Jesus. The practices of prayer and time in God’s Word the curriculum provides, help us to discuss what God might be trying to teach us each week. We also touch base on how things are going with daily life.

If you call Foundations home and have a desire to grow in your faith with other believers, we hope you’ll try out a huddle.

WHAT ARE HUDDLES?

Huddles are smaller versions of traditional “small groups” designed to work in concert with the RHYTHMS that Foundations Church believes will help you to follow and love Jesus. These rhythms include prayer, silence, solitude, rest, time in God’s Word, the corporate worship gathering, joyful giving, participating in the Lord’s Supper, and loving our neighbor.

HOW TO HUDDLE

In order for the group to do well, we recommend:

  • Three to 8 members. The ideal size is four in order to allow for meaningful participation by each member over the course of the hour. If you choose to meet as couples, you’ll want 3 or 4 for the same reason.
  • Commit to meeting once per week for 8 weeks.
  • We intend to have 3 8-week sessions per year, from mid-September to Thanksgiving, late January to Spring Break and Spring Break until the end of the school year.
  • These sessions will have multiple learning options to choose from, usually including a sermon-based curriculum, men’s/women’s ministry options, a book of the Bible study as well as options around finance, marriage, family, etc.
  • At the end of the 8-week sessions, you can continue to meet or choose to join another type of huddle!
