Meet Our

Elder Board

Our church is ultimately led by a board of elders, with our lead pastor serving as one of them. They empower our leaders and staff to live out the mission of the church.

Leadership FAQ

Foundations Church is governed through an Elder led leadership structure rooted in biblical accountability, transparency, and shared leadership. Our Elder Board oversees the direction and health of the church, while day to day ministry and operations are led by our staff and Lead Pastor. We are committed to healthy governance practices, financial integrity, and creating a culture of trust as we help people know Jesus and make Him known.

  • What is the leadership structure of Foundations Church?

Since our founding in 2011, we have committed to practice a God honoring governance

structure. Our leadership structure is defined in our Constitution and Bylaws.

We believe there is wisdom in a plurality of leadership. Therefore, rather than being led by any

one person, we are structured as an Elder led church. Per our church Bylaws, “Church Elders

shall lead, teach, and shepherd Foundations Church and its Ambassadors, and its attendees

    and participants.”

Our governing documents include our Constitution and Bylaws. These include a description of

our membership (which we define as Ambassadorship), our Elders, and our Elder Board (also known as our ELT or Elder Leadership Team).

Our church is ultimately led by an Elder Board of seven members, which is a subset of our full

group of Elders, with our Lead Pastor serving as one of them. This Elder Board is responsible

for directing and overseeing the affairs of the church, we also work to promote a culture of

healthy accountability and transparency throughout the entire organization.

  • How is the Elder Board (ELT) selected?

Our full group of Elders vote to appoint our Elder Board on an annual basis. Per our bylaws,

the Elder Board members serve one-year terms, up to a maximum of 6 consecutive one-year

terms. The standing board positions include Chairman, Vice Chair, and Treasurer. Our Lead

Pastor is prohibited from holding any of these positions.

  • Are members of the Elder board compensated in any way?

No, our Elder board are volunteers and our governing documents strictly prohibit them from

receiving any financial compensation or gain. Our Lead Pastor is compensated for his role and

he also serves as a member of this Elder Board. Other than our Lead Pastor, no other member

of the Elder Board may be employed by or compensated by the church.

  • Who does the Lead Pastor report to?

Our Lead Pastor, while serving as a member of our Elder Board, also reports to our Elder

Board. The Elder Board has the authority to correct or remove any leader, including the Lead

Pastor, if necessary. Our board meets monthly, provides ongoing feedback to the Lead Pastor,

and performs an annual review of the Lead Pastor.

  • Who makes operational decisions for church?

Although the final authority of the church is vested in the Elder Board, day to day operational

decisions are made and carried out by the Lead Pastor and our staff.

  • Who makes financial decisions for the church?

Each year our Executive Director of Operations prepares and presents a financial budget to the

Elder Board. The Elder Board then reviews, analyses, and ultimately votes to approve the

budget. Since the founding of the church in 2011 we have given away 10% of our income each

year to local and global ministries. Click here to see some of the ministrities we financially

    support.

  • Are there other actions the church takes to promote a healthy leadership culture?

Yes. We take the responsibility of healthy leadership very seriously and we work to stay

engaged in activities that promote accountability and transparency. In additional to the items

    stated above we:

    • complete a comprehensive staff survey each year which is performed by an independent 3rd party
    • complete a financial review of our books using an independent outside CPA firm (Capin Crouse)
    • hold an annual member / ambassador meeting which includes reports from our Elder board
    • hold two annual all Elder meetings which include reports from our Elder board and Lead Pastor
    • give away 10% of our annual giving to local and global ministries which can be viewed here.
  • How does someone become an Ambassador?

    We offer Ambassador classes annually.

  • How does someone become an Elder?

Ambassadors with two years tenure, and who meet the biblical qualifications as described in I

Timothy, Titus, I Peter and Thessalonians shall be qualified to be considered for the position of

Elder. Elder candidates must receive two nominations from existing Elders, and then undergo a application and interview process.

  • Who can I contact with questions or concerns?

You may reach out to any staff member, Pastor, Elder, or the full Elder Board with questions.
