YA FAQs

Everything you need to know about community, groups, events, and getting connected at Foundations.

Whether you’re new to Foundations, transitioning out of student ministry, or looking for your place in community, this section will help answer common questions about Young Adults and how to get involved.

  • Our Vision

At Foundations, our hope is not simply to create a young adults ministry, but to raise young adults who are fully integrated into the life of the church.

We feel the burden to help students transition from youth ministry into our adult discipleship pathway. Because that transition can often feel unclear and isolating, we intentionally create environments that help young adults find community, ownership, and their place within the church.

Our goal is to help young adults move toward biblical community, spiritual maturity, serving and leadership, and long-term connection within the local church.

Rather than creating a separate ministry silo, our strategy is designed to help young adults connect into the broader discipleship pathway at Foundations through weekends, groups, teams, men’s and women’s events, and missions opportunities.

  • Our Strategy

We use intentional connect events throughout the year to bridge the gap between youth ministry and adult discipleship.

    These events are designed to:

    • Build meaningful community
    • Create clear next steps
    • Connect young adults into groups and serving teams
    • Make a large church feel smaller
  • Yearly Rhythm

January - Connect event focused on launching into groups, teams, and communities.

March - Mid-semester group hang led by young adult group leaders. These gatherings are intentionally relational and not church-program driven as we want young adults learning to build community outside of church events.

Summer (June–August) - Strategic connect events to maintain community during the group offseason and create momentum into the fall.

October - Mid-semester groups event focused on relational ownership and community. Planned and run by the young adults.

Additional opportunities include men’s and women’s events, serve days, missions opportunities, church-wide events, and opportunities like Slammin Famine.

  • Age Range

Our Young Adult Strategy is designed for ages 18–25. We view this as a transitional season and bridge into adulthood, not a permanent destination ministry.

Group leaders and mentors may be older than 25 as we highly value discipleship across generations.

  • Why It’s Different

We are intentionally not creating a “youth group for adults.” Instead of building another large weekly gathering, we believe long-term discipleship happens best through meaningful relationships, serving, community, and integration into the local church.

This approach is more scalable across campuses and creates greater ownership and sustainability for young adults as they learn to live out their faith in everyday life.

  • Youth to Young Adults

Graduating seniors are invited into the young adult pathway beginning with the final summer connect event following Legacy Night each August. This creates a clear and intentional handoff from student ministry into adult discipleship and community.

  • Early Wins

Over the past year, we began implementing this strategy and successfully launched multiple new Rooted and small groups specifically for young adults. We are encouraged by the growing community, ownership, and engagement we are already seeing in this season of ministry.
